Volodymyr Lytvyn: Today, more than ever one should count on the People´s Diplomacy
Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Wednesday met Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People´s Republic of China.
Greeting the guests and characterizing China "as first love hat you remain through all your life", V. Lytvyn emphasised the necessity of the cooperation with the country and its beautiful people. He is convinced that the visit of Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the National People's Congress to Ukraine that is planned in this year, enables "strengthening of the positive dynamics existing in the relations with China."
The Head of the Parliament expressed for the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation on the interparliamentary level. "I am convinced that when there is a mutual understanding on the interparliamentary level, our nations will become closer to each other. Today, more than ever we need people´s diplomacy", he added.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People´s Republic of China named Ukraine "a country with the ancient civilization, friendly people and happy future." He mentioned that the development of the complex cooperation between the nations is impossible without the Parliament of the both states, that express and represents the interests of these nations, represents the needs of the regions and interests of different political powers.
According to Yang Jiechi, the Parliaments of both countries are "bridges for elaboration of useful recommendations for the representatives of the business circles, strengthening of all the spheres of cooperation, in particular it concerns scientific-technical, agricultural and military sphere."
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasised that "under the modern conditions, taking into the consideration of the challenges the world faces, it is necessary to overcome the traditional approach to the evolutional processes within our Planet."
V. Lytvyn also deems it necessary to strengthen the parliamentary cooperation. "The work should be systematic and efficient", he emphasised.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems the most important and topical the directions cooperation in the agricultural, military-industrial spheres and security matters. V. Lytvyn reminded that China is one of the adpromissors of the integrity and independence of Ukraine.
According to the Head of the Parliament, it is necessary to develop relations in the sphere of humanities "in such a way people become closer to each other." For this purpose there should be a constant dialogue between Ukrainians and Chinese, it is also necessary to acquaint people by the means of the conduction of "A Year of China In Ukraine" and "A Year of Ukraine in China", he stated.
"Ukraine have been exhausting as a state. The fact will never be changed. Thus we need to do a lot of home tasks for its development. For this purpose we need strong cooperation with your country", he stated. He also expressed great expectations towards the visit of Wu Banguoo to Ukraine.
